About The Workplace Stress InitiativeThe Workplace Stress Initiative is a collaborative partnership between local health care organizations, employers, labour unions and social service agencies that promotes healthy workplace practices to reduce workplace stress in Manitoba. The Initiative was formed in 2001 in response to workplace stress as an emerging workplace health issue. Since that time, the Initiative spearheaded the Healthy Workplace Practices project that identifies and promotes positive examples of practices in Manitoba workplaces to assist employers and employees make changes to reduce stress in their own workplaces. The Workplace Stress Initiative also has submitted policy proposals to various public reviews of Manitoba legislation. The Initiative presented the paper “Workplace Stress, Mental Illness & Manitoba’s Workers Compensation Act” to the public hearings on the Workers Compensation Act in 2004. The Initiative also submitted “ Bullying in the Workplace” to the public review of the Workplace Safety and Health Act in March of 2008. |
